RACE DATE: SATURDAY, MAY 25, 2024

SCREENING : 6:00 AM

START TIME: 8:00 AM

TAKE OFF: From Apana Road to Okpekpe

DISTANCE: 10km (The starts will be from APANA ROAD. The finishes will be at Okpekpe Road.)

A direct bus will be available to take you from Benin (5 am) to Okpekpe (race Venue).
Buses will also be available to convey Invited Athletes from the Hotel to the Race Venue, the bus will be marked “Okpekpe road race.”There will be route tour on the 11th of May.

On the race day, all Athletes shall be transported to the venue as early as 6 am for screening, while the race starts by 8 am.

The race will be timed using Full Automatic (FAT)  electronic timing system. There will be split timing at every kilometer.

Tag time is the most accurate form of marathon timing available because it measures the exact time between a runner crossing the start line and the finish line. Tag time also records several important splits, providing an accurate record of a runner’s pace.

Tag time (Chip time) is recorded by an electronic tag that is attached to a runner’s number. Your tag records the time at which you cross the start line, the finish line and several split times in between. The tag time begins when a runner crosses the start line.

There shall be water, sponges and refreshment stations along the routes and at the finish.

A medical station will be available at the start, along with the course and at the finish.
There would be provision for well-equipped ambulances that will follow the runners all the way and Medics will also be present at every intermediary station.

There will be a sweeper bus that will pick athletes that are unable to continue the race.

A direct bus will be available to take you from Benin or Lagos AIRPORT to your hotel in Auchi and from the Hotel to Okpekpe (race Venue). The bus you want to take is marked “Okpekpe road race.”

All athletes shall be taken on route inspection on the eve of the event.

On the race day all Athletes shall be transported to the venue as early as 6am in cell one for screening, while the race start by 8am.

Live bands and a selection of other activities will be available at the Finish Area throughout the day to entertain the participants and spectators. Food and Beverage facilities will also be available.

  • There will be a clock at the finish.
  • There will be provision for physiotherapy.
  • There will be a mix zone for interviews etc
  • The Awards Ceremony will begin immediately After the race.
    There will be an award podium at the finish for the top three finishers.
  • Doping procedures follow immediately after the Award ceremony.

The temperature will be approximately between 25 – 30 Degree Celsius at the start.
