Independent National Electoral Commission Commissioner for Information Technology in the South-South Mustafa Lecky has joined the list of celebrity runners who have registered for the Okpekpe International 10km Road Race.
The race takes place in Okpekpe, Edo State, on May 13.
Lecky wants to raise awareness about the benefits of violence-free elections in the South-South and other parts of the country ahead of the 2019 general elections.
“We are delighted that INEC has chosen the Okpekpe race as the best platform to raise awareness about the benefits of having violence-free elections in Nigeria,” spokesman for the race Dare Esan said.
“This is an endorsement of the race as the only credible platform as far as sport is concerned for credible institutions in Nigeria to use to propagate whatever cause they want Nigerians to key into.”
